Bike to School Day

Event Details

Students and their families are encouraged to ride their bikes or scooters to school on Friday, May 16.

Teachers will leave designated stops at 7:30 a.m. and pick up students and families on the way to school — see below for more information. Riders will stop at Santa Margarita Park at 7:50 a.m. for breakfast goodies provided by the PTA, and bicycling-related gift bags from SLO County Regional Rideshare. From there the riders will cross Highway 58 at the crosswalk and walk their bikes up the hill to school.

Remember: Plan on having a great ride. Ride smart, be safe, obey the rules of the road, and remember always to wear your helmet.

The Routes:

  • Mr. Smith will meet students at Wilhelmina and I Street at 7:30. That group will ride down I Street to Yerba Buena. They will turn right onto H Street, stop at the intersection of H and Encina Avenue, and then proceed to the park.
  • Mrs. Black will start at the corner of K Street and Maria at 7:30. She will proceed down K Street, turning left onto Margarita Avenue. The group will then turn right onto I Street and proceed to Pinal Avenue, where they will turn left to the park.
  • Mrs. Whitaker will begin her ride at the south end of F Street by Yerba Buena Avenue. She will ride down F Street picking up students along the way. Her group will turn right onto Encina Avenue and regroup before walking their bikes across El Camino Real at the flashing crosswalk. They will then turn left at H Street and proceed to the park.
  • Students living out of town may be dropped off at any stop at 7:30.
